I went to Arizona to attend my lovely niece's wedding. It was an absolutely beautiful event in so many different ways. So after spending the better part of a week with my sisters, I am once again on the road.
Yeah!
The drive today was amazing. Since it was the desert, coming from me that is a real compliment. I am trees and green all the way.
Today's landscape was canyons and desert, buttes and streams; drop offs and amazing rock formations. Salt Creek Canyon was gorgeous. Access to the creek is presently closed, but that could hardly deter the beauty.
I was up hills and down 6 to 6.5 grades. There were way too many 'In Memory of ' signs along the way which added me going at an even more sedate speed. I think I added 10 miles to my journey today just in driving in the pull out zones to let cars pass!
But hey, with the scenery so pretty; why would I want to go fast.
I won't say it was a breeze, but Wild Beauty did great. Another accomplishment I can add to her list.
Most of the drive was through White Mountain Apache Reservation. Once you got up to the top, pines started to take over the scrub and cactus. The forests were cleared of a lot of the dead underbrush allowing the green bottom growth to add to the beauty of the vista. It seemed like miles and miles of beautiful land. There were even horses wandering the forest. I could picture movies being made here. Absolutely amazing country.
Outside of the reservation, houses started coming into view. The city of Show Low was very picturesque. I can definitely understand why many would wish to live here.
I spent a cozy evening at Fool Hollow Lake State Park
Today's driving venture confirmed why I want to see this country I call home.
Thanks Sandy, with my bus lessons I came through with flying colors.
You got this Sis!
It's good to slow down, and not move too fast, you have to make the moment last.
