Today started out great. Coffee by the lake, sunshine and blue skies.
I headed west at a leisurely pace on Hwy 82 through Mississippi. Small towns and farms rolled by sharing all spring's green glory.
When I got to the river I pulled into Cypress Swamp Park to call the State park campgrounds and see who had a spot open on a Friday night.
The Ranger who answered said, yes they had sites but they came with warnings. They were telling the campers already there to go into the bathhouse if the tornado alarm sounded and take cover. She also told me to camp in certain areas due to potential flooding with the coming storm. She was leaving but would post the open site list on the station window. I could by and pay the fee in morning.... !?!
Well that was all I needed to hear.
I am off and running. After trying to see the big picture on my little phone, I turned south hoping to get as far away as possible from any tornadoes. I ended up in Louisiana just in time to drive through a big red radar patch. I guess I should have ran west.
I drove as much as I could through the storm, then spent my first night at a truck stop, with many other wary travelers.
I actually did sleep some.
I was up and off at 530 the next morning.
As I was driving down interstate 20, I was thinking 'What Am I Doing ! First the 4 wheel adventure, then trying to out run tornadoes and sleeping in truck stops....
Do I want to see the country that bad?
As I am debating my decision, a Cardinal flies across the interstate !
Okay, Kenny, I get the message. Life is fleeting, live it
Beauty, stopped for a day of rest at Mineral Springs Park TX
I think there are more diamonds out there, I just need to be patience and keep my heart open
Yes, you want to see the country!
Some days will be easy and peaceful, while others will be turbulent. All days will be part of your adventure.
Some days are diamond, some days are stone.
